The bounty system. Getting a bounty for self defense will never not annoy me.

Also, the GTA- style NPC swerve into your path and the horse fighting against my controls to slam into a tree.

If you don't use the l stick going through trees the horse will generally avoid them by itself, once I stopped using it around trees I realised it was me steering into the trees. Made it so much better

I feel your bounty pain

u/Every-Committee-5853 avatar

Careful of tree stumps mine ran right into one as I let Elon take the wheel as the kids say

Oh definitely, it's not fullproof, but I've hit a lot less tree since I learned to let go

I have the opposite, I’ll try to go in between a tree line and my horse will steer itself (despite me using my left stick) a whole 90° away from where I’m trying to go. This will result in me pulling my stick left, but the horse continuously running to the right. I’d rather hit a tree than feel no control over the horse

I don't want it to generally avoid trees absent of my input, I want it to do what I tell it to actively avoid trees.

Yeah I get that, just nice that the horse had a mind of its own and isnt just a car

If your horse is slamming itself into a tree out of having a mind of its own, you've either got a fucked up horse or are really bad at the whole equestrian thing.

Yeah but a real horse isn't going to listen to you just cause you think it's a good way if a horse is pulling it thinks the way you picked is unsafe but yeah tell devs to make the game less realistic 🤣

I've ridden. A horse is not going to willingly drive itself into a tree over listening to the reins. That is not "realistic".

Couldn't agree more

Yes! The npc thing. Every single one steers their horse towards me. I was honestly about to look this up today and find out if there is a reason for this or a setting I can tweak or something. It’s super frustrating.

Just don't press the joystick when running through the woods with your horse. Most of the time it will just bounce off the trees.

"Most of the time" isn't enough to warrant fighting my input. If anything, the auto-horse thing should at least automatically disable when you're using the stick.

I mean it's pretty full proof. You might run Into a rock or fence occasionally but you won't hit the trees.

Foolproof. And occasionally running into rocks and fences isn't that.

How slow you walk in camp.

And in the Indian reservation.

I was able to run around there in console. I spent a solid amount of time mowing over the people there.

On foot, yes. On a horse…. Not so much.

But I really want to enjoy doing my chores!

Omfg this

The only mods I use is the one where you can sprint in camp and another that loots faster. I don't know why they decided to force you to walk, it's really not that awkward to run in camp

u/Brilliant-Deer6118 avatar

I hate how sometimes I struggle to position myself to "loot" or open a container. This seems especially bad after destroying a Le Moyne raiders camp.

u/suigetsussudio avatar

Likewise, getting Wanted for looting in the aftermath of Six Point Cabin or Hanging Dog Ranch (Sadie mission).

I think I've also gotten Wanted for looting after the Sean rescue mission.

I thought the same re: the Sean mission but I believe you actually become wanted for hanging around too long after the mission

u/usedtobeathrowaway94 avatar

Yes, less time than it takes to loot the place. For all these of them

More replies

That really sucks. They give you a treasure trove of loot but give you a small time frame to get it all. The Sean mission sucks even more because if you run directly back the bodies will all be gone. At Six Point you can go straight back and loot the bodies.

How realistic the NPCs are, except in the rain. It’s storming and they’re all just doing the same things they would do on a bright sunny day.

Hahah I never noticed but you are so right! It would be funny if they‘d start running to get some shelter if the storm gets really intense.

u/HistoricalInfluence9 avatar

Right! You see Arthur if he’s out and about in the elements when it storms will hunch lower on his horse or even try and shield his face. All the while the NPCs are just walking around like nothing is happening

i’ve noticed that my NPCs have their horses run in the rain also, they hunch lower to the horse too

Having to craft stuff one at a time. Also donating items to the camp fund one at a time.

Stored outfits on your horse getting messed up every time you pick up a new hat or buy a new clothing item

For real, it’s even worse when the game messes with your sidearms

Auto equipping weapons at some important points it just ruins the immersion

Totally agree. I'll know what I'm going into and pick my weapons only to have the game replace them with what it wants me to have. I get it for a first-time playthrough. It's just assuming you don't know what's coming and trying to help. But beyond that, it's annoying.

u/Difficult-Word-7208 avatar

I agree. Arthur has no reason to carry a sawed off shotgun, a revolver, a repeater and a Springfield rifle. Imaging carrying all that

Your equipped weapons being removed after riding the horse.

Yes! Like when you’re riding and he starts shuffling the weapons back onto the saddle. Just leave them alone!

That would be a lot of fun.

Dutch's camp request for a pipe.

You nearly get eaten by a grizzly just to get the damn thing, and then you never see him smoke it for the rest of the game!!

Also Arthur never even brings up that he basically gets mauled to get that pipe 🙄

u/blueberrykindness avatar

Never go full Revenant for an unappreciative asshole.

You can go to the back of that cabin and lure the bear out, then just spam deadeye. That is if you remember there’s a bear in there lol

u/suigetsussudio avatar

I always do!

Sometimes it’s been so long between playthroughts that I forget and go “Oh! A cabin a can loot!” Then I’m like “Oh! The 600 pound bear that beat me to it!”

Masks being pointless

u/forfuxzake avatar

Masks are only pointless if you commit a crime in front of a lawman or if you commit a crime, become wanted, and let the law find you within the red circle. I kill NPCs all over the map with a mask and as long I'm out of the red area I can let the wanted level dissipate and then go back and walk right up to the law with no issues.

Saving hats

Yes this!

Doing a perfect side business robbery only for you to become wanted anyway despite no one around to see you.

u/saltydroppies avatar

Or when I commit a crime in the middle of fucking nowhere, but somehow the law still knows it was me, and I wind up with a bounty.

Yeah, a stranger you have never met is able to identify you by name after seeing you briefly at a distance before running away.

While plant gathering I thought how nice it would be if plants glowed a different color besides white, makes them hard to see sometimes.

Anything that’s luck based. Finding certain animals, trying to find stolen hats, getting certain random events to spawn, etc. It makes my 100% complete playthroughs miserable

How it takes me 3 or 4 tries to line up perfectly to pick orchids.

And another...why can't I just pick orchids while still on my horse?

Right, considering that’s a feature in RDO anyways

How NPCs can start a fight with me, but if I defend myself I get the bounty on me. Example, if I antagonize someone and start a fight I get it that I’m the aggressor and will get the law called on me. If an NPC antagonizes first and I respond with an antagonizing response and they square up to fight, I still get the law called on me

No Mexico. They built Mexico. They had Mexico in the last game, we should have Mexico.

Also, just adding to online, not adding any real patches, or expansions to story mode. Like maybe… Mexico!

u/New_Supermarket_894 avatar

Snake and rat skins should always be 3 stars

u/totallynotrobboss avatar

Probably the fact that my horse randomly stops running and I have to mash the move button to get them to go again. Either that or the fact that they made the button to get on your horse the same button as to grab someone.

Sometimes I’ll try to get my horse to follow me in towns and then all of a sudden I hear Arthur start demanding money from a distant NPC.

When the man in San Denis request you to get 100 gallons of moonshine but then refers to it as “mentanol”. Its ethanol unless the ‘shiner is trying to poison people.

u/caramelcooler avatar

Waiting for Arthur to finish an action and get back into his default position before I can press another button

The automatic focus and “jump to horse” on carts and other riders when you pass them. JUST LET ME PASS

The hardiness of NPCs. Nothing less satisfying that getting some great shots on enemies and half of them stand up because they can shrug off a rifle round directly to the heart/lungs like it was nothing.

I can only cook one thing at a time

u/jonas_9626 avatar

That you have to reopen yp your satchel gor every Food/Drink etc

Wdym? You can access and consume food/drink in the weapon wheel or are you talking about something else?

The thing that annoys the shit out of my is trying to traverse mountains on foot. Slipping and sliding all over then missing a ledge you think you’d be able to reach then sliding 9000 feet down a hill

u/littlepsyche74 avatar

Sounds more realistic than a glitch.

Typos. There are about half a dozen spelling mistakes in the captions. I sat through a twenty minute credit roll at the end of the game, you’d think with that many people working on the game somebody would have proofread.

No running in camp. Like really?

No horse in camp, like, they make it make sense, but only one camp let you actually ride your horse close enough on the "of camp, "to be closer to your actual tent.

The trapper should just be different dudes.

It's damn near impossible to get a perfect snake skin in the first place, and then you need to get so many of them

On that note, the firearm that you need to use to get a perfect pelt, or perfect skin, with smaller animals, is absolutely unrealistic. I don't expect everything to be realistic, but come on. Nobody is shooting small animals with a 22. Nobody anywhere is doing that regularly. Likewise, a 22 used on a larger animal, if it kills it, should be perfect. If I shoot a deer in the head with a 22, it's pelt is perfect. That's the way it should be in the game

u/ILOVEJETTROOPER avatar

Snake Skins aren't that difficult to get, though. Are you not using Dead Eye while hunting?

u/Earl_of_69 avatar

Yeah. It's a bit more than that though, isn't it? The horse doesn't like the snakes, so it's harder to chase the snakes on the horse, and it's harder to get a good shot on the snake from the horse, especially if you're moving even with dead. Right? It's a lot. Compared to every other animal, it's a lot.

Snakes are best hunted on foot. Just get real close so they want to strike you, they then curl up which gives you enough time to aim a small game arrow to the head.

u/Earl_of_69 avatar

Yeah. I'm just saying comparable to the other animals, it's kind of a pain in the ass to have to do that.

We are nitpicking, right?

Some of the missions are boring. My least favorite being the ones with Beau and Penelope

u/HistoricalInfluence9 avatar

The boring missions humanize Arthur to me, but I get your point
