Boyzone star Keith Duffy has appealed to their original fans for help with an upcoming “new project”, by sending in any photos or videos that fans may have taken at their first gigs.

“Hi everyone! We’re working on an exciting new Boyzone project and wanted to enlist the help of any fans out there who might have any videos or photos that you took of any of the early gigs in the 90s,” he said in an appeal on social media.

“If you have any footage you’d be happy to share, please email boyzonegigs@gmail.com for more details.”

Keith did not add what exactly the project is for, or who else among the band is involved.

Boyzone was formed in 1993 by music manager Louis Walsh as he sought to create an Irish counterpart to the popular British boy band Take That.

The original line-up consisted of Keith Duffy, Michael Graham, Ronan Keating, Shane Lynch, Stephen Gately, Richard Rock and Mark Walton.

Boyzone enjoyed huge chart success in the 1990s

However, Rock and Walton left early on, and the group solidified with Duffy, Graham, Keating, Lynch and Gately.

Boyzone quickly rose to fame in the mid-1990s with a string of successful singles and albums. Their debut album, Said and Done (1995), was a major success, featuring hits like Love Me for a Reason and Key to My Life.

By the end of the decade, they had become one of the UK’s most prominent boy bands, achieving multiple number one albums and singles.

Despite their success, Boyzone disbanded in 2000 to pursue individual projects. Ronan Keating, in particular, enjoyed a successful solo career. The band reunited in 2007, releasing new music and embarking on several tours.

In 2009, tragedy struck when Stephen Gately passed away suddenly at the age of 33 due to a congenital heart defect. The band paid tribute to him with the release of the album Brother (2010).

Boyzone continued to release music and tour in the following years, marking their 25th anniversary in 2018 with the album Thank You & Goodnight, which they announced would be their final studio album.

Over their career, Boyzone sold over 25 million records worldwide, achieved six UK number one singles, and released several successful albums.
