The Galway Irish Public House Opens in Gulf Shores

Gulf Shores has welcomed a new culinary genre to the area! The Galway Irish Public House has opened and locals are already enjoying a pint and some Shepherd's Pie.

If you have been looking for classic Irish fare and an excursion from the typical beach cuisine, this new hideaway is the answer. Stepping into Galway's will instantly transport you to that historic island in the north Atlantic. You will immediately feel the comfort from the soothing dark wood, pub style setting and even an English phone booth.

Galways Irish Pub

The Galway Irish Restaurant is located at 2301 E 2nd St. in Gulf Shores.

Open for lunch or dinner, the Galway Irish Public House offers traditional Irish foods in a European pub feel. The staff are sharply dressed in a manner that honors the Gaelic surroundings. There are group settings that feature a fireplace, as well as, an suit of armor.

If the surrounding don't transport you to Ireland, Galway's menu will definitely do the trick. The corned beef and lamb shanks will catch your eye, but don't miss the Guinness Mac & Cheese or the pub favorite Rueben.

The founders of the Galway Irish Public House have deep ties in the local culinary scene. Susan Ellis, Scott Keel and Jonathon Langston are friends who had this "Pub" dream for years. Scott & Susan are also the owners of another quaint spot named Bleus Burger.

The three have teamed up and designed the new interior and menu from the ground up. While locals were watching the construction of the location, anticipation was building. The pub opened this month to an appreciative local crowd who are already giving it high praise in reviews. Many speak of the "Fish-n-Chips" and comfortable surroundings. All of reviewers speak of trying new items on their NEXT visit!

The Director of Recreation and Cultural Affairs, Grant Brown, said the project is having a hard time getting momentum mainly because of those rising prices. “We have run into a funding situation where we do not have our first phase funded. So, we do not know when we will be able to begin construction. The first phase, phase one-A is what we are calling it, including the drainage necessary to build a roadway through that property from Coastal Gateway Boulevard all the way to County Road 6 or Oak Road East.”
