Hell's Video Store
This comic always makes me laugh, but I also don't agree with it.
I think Ishtar is a brilliant movie, and an absolute comedy classic. I unironically love it.
Downvote me if you want, because I understand that telling the truth can be dangerous business.
The real punchline is that Larson retroactively apologised for this comic because he saw Ishtar on a plane once and didn't even think it was bad.
The only one he's ever apologized for.
This movie has been on my list for years because it is so legendarily bad.... I've heard it's pretty underrated.
It's a fantastic, hilarious movie.
I mean even if it's a good movie, it would be somewhat hellish to only watch the same movie over and over.
Like Cannonball Run 2.
Depends on the movie....lord of the rings extended edition!
That's three movies!
“That still only counts as one!“
I had the same thought before I saw your post.
Came here to post this exact lore
That’s hilarious, and the fact he owned up to it and let people know makes it even better
I think he said that a lot of offended readers have demanded he apologise for multiple comics over the years, but the Ishtar one is the only one that he feels genuinely compelled to do so for.
This is one where the multiple definitions of "flop" worked against him. It was a flop in the sense of it losing all the money that was invested, but we've made the word synonymous with "bad movie".
Plus there’s nowhere in hell you can get a good vcr anymore
I think it would be just as funny with any random well known movie. Imagine only ever having Citizen Kane.
While not nearly as bad as its reputation, Ishtar is nowhere near being a good movie.
That's the real horror presented here. Your only option is a mediocre corny 80s comedy.
“These men are pawns.”
3 2 3, 4 4 2 3, AND-
Are those books or VHS cases
It’s Hell’s Video Store, so yeah they’re books.
4,7 score on IMDB is pretty bad. The trailer did nothing to convince me its unjust.
3-2-3-4 4-2-3-AND
These men are pawns!
Movie quality is entirely subjective. If you like something, you like it. Except for Rise of Skywalker, that's hot, wet garbage.
This would be the emoji movie if modern
I like the one guy browsing one of the copies of Ishtar like he’s deciding whether or not to get it.
The trailer lives rent free in my head because of redlettermedia
