Hi folks, we are going to London and SE England for 3 weeks in August and as i am an old fellow and don't know too much about phones and computers i am asking which is the best sim card for us. We will be staying near Heathrow and touring Kent, Sussex & Hampshire as well as a few days in Derbyshire. WE will not be making any international calls and probably not so many local calls. Thanks for any information on which sim to buy.
If your phone is a newish model then an E-SIM will be a cheap option. But these need a bit of tech savvy to set up. If that is too much, then any supermarket can sell a SIM for just a few pounds. Any netwrok is fine for the areas you mention.
On a separate note. Do you mean using Heathrow as a base to visit all those locations? That would be very sub optimal.
RCSPEIRS, thanks for the info. We would be staying with friends near Heathrow and probably take a 7 day trip to Sandwich, Rye and Hastings, another 5 day trip to Ashbourne, Matlock, Wellingborough, and an overnight trip to friends in Farnham.
If your friends have phones ask them which network(s) they use.
That may help narrow down the options.
If you're not planning to make any international calls, then maybe just go with whatever roaming plan your provider offers, or don't bother roaming at all and just use wifi wherever you can.
Ok Armrest, that is what we normally do in SE Asian countries but I will be expecting to make and receive a few important phonecalls.
Make sure you pass on your new number to whoever is making the important calls.
