Joe Swash has offered an update on plans to expand his family with Stacey Solomon after a 'scary' realisation. Fans will know that the couple, who tied the knot in 2022, share a large brood.

Joe, 42, and Stacey, 34, share three young children - Rex, four, Rose, two, and one-year-old Belle. Stacey also has a 15-year-old son named Zachary and a 12-year-old son named Leighton, who she shares with former partners, while Joe is also dad to his teenage son Harry.

Last year, Joe told how he and his wife Stacey have been talking about adding to their family and fostering would be a way they'd like to do it after describing the pair as being "addicted" to children.

It came after, inspired by his mum Kiffy Swash’s work as a foster parent, Joe filmed a documentary called Joe Swash: Teens In Care for the BBC, which aimed to shine a light on the state of the British care system.

"It’s something that Stacey and I have talked about and it’s something we’ll always consider," Joe told the Mirror when asked if fostering is something he's like to do. Sharing the ideal time frame for when it'll happen, he added at the imte: "When our kids get older and the last ones are at secondary school, maybe then we’ll try to foster ourselves."

While Joe has grown up around the children his mum has fostered, including foster sibling Daniel, who moved into their family home when he was just seven-years-old, the former EastEnders star said that Stacey felt just as passionately as he does on the matter. "Stacey has seen how important it is and how needed loads of really lovely foster carers are because there’s not enough out there," Joe added to the publication.

Now Joe, who has just become the first ambassador of Comfort Cases UK, a foster care charity helping to support vulnerable children across England and Wales, has re-shared his interest in becoming a foster parent, telling the Express: "It would definitely be of interest to both Stacey and I [to become foster parents], as we have seen the difference my mum has made to little Daniel’s life and the young man he is growing up to be.

"And it truly scares us to think what could’ve happened if my mum had never met him; and the difference it would’ve made to his life.” Joe is also hoping to raise awareness of the importance of foster care in his new ambassador role. He explained: "Kids in the care system has always been something at the forefront of my family, with my mum being a foster carer. Seeing the difference that love, attention, and stability can make to a child as a result of foster care is amazing."
