Ben Stiller is assuring “Severance” fans that Season 2 is still on its way, more than two years since the Apple TV+ series rolled out its acclaimed first season.

Stiller responded to show super-fan SZA on Twitter, after the singer-songwriter called out the series director and executive producer.

“Was trying to be polite but I really need a new season of ‘Severance’ right the fuck now,” Grammy winner SZA tweeted (via Complex).

Stiller replied, “Ok ok got it,” to which SZA clarified, “Omg please accept my humble apology lmao whenever ur ready is fine. Just dying of thirst it’s the best show ever! Ur a madman. THANK U mr stiller king sir!”

In later tweets, SZA even apologized and quote tweeted a fan who said she should understand how it feels now whenever someone asks her when she’s going to drop her next album.

“No this really taught me something…and I’m sorry,” she added.

“Severance” Season 2 is set to pick up where Mark (Adam Scott), Dylan (Zach Cherry), Helly (Britt Lower), and Irving (John Turturro) left off: escaping into the real world outside of their corporate cubicles and trying to free themselves from capitalist tutelage.

Stiller directs and executive produces the series that follows controversial tech company Lumon, whose workers opt for experimental procedures to have an alternate work self complete with their own memories and personalities. Patricia Arquette plays the Lumon boss, who blurs the lines between Innies — their professional selves — and Outies — their personal selves — by stalking employees outside of the office.

Season 2 was announced way back in April 2022, with Gwendoline Christie, Alia Shawkat, Bob Balaban, and more stars joining the cast. Though there’s still no formal release date.

Stiller revealed that he uses his family as a “focus group” for “Severance” plot lines. “We have this ongoing debate about spoilers because I’m working now on the scripts and prepping the show,” Stiller said. “And I will want to ask them questions and they’re like, ‘Well, don’t tell us.’ Do you want to know or not? So it’s like an ongoing debate.”

Arquette previously teased that audiences should be “very scared” of what’s in store. “Be scared, very scared,” Arquette told Entertainment Tonight. “No, I think these guys have been working really hard, and come up with a lot of really creative things. They have a whole world in their minds. They just let us in, piece by piece, into what’s going on, but I think it will be fun and beautiful.”

Could SZA be a new guest star for a possible Season 3? The singer will make her acting debut in a new buddy comedy produced by Isaa Rae and co-starring Keke Palmer. The yet-untitled feature will be directed by Lawrence Lamont (“Rap Sh!t”) with a screenplay by “Rap Sh!t” showrunner Syreeta Singleton.

SZA has performed in cinematic music videos and collaborated with Kendrick Lamar for “All the Stars” from the “Black Panther” soundtrack in 2018. See her tweets below:
