GREENWICH — Greenwich Public Schools celebrated its 2024 distinguished teachers on Thursday with a ceremony held at Central Middle School.

Every March, parents and district staff members can nominate a teacher to be a distinguished teacher. The Distinguished Teachers Committee then reviews the nominations. In April, the committee submits its ballots; once the ballots are tallied, the six teachers with the most votes are that year's distinguished teachers.

This year, the six distinguished teachers are: Ana Maria Fals, third grade teacher at New Lebanon School; Johanna Kolar, eighth grade math teacher at Western Middle School; Lian Lam, special education teacher at New Lebanon School; Audrey Maurer, music teacher at New Lebanon School; Ilene Rietsch, kindergarten teacher at North Street School; and Alyssa Stack, social studies teacher at Greenwich High School.
