Marantz cinema 60 or an equivalent denon? Need av advice plz for a 4k projector.

Tech Support

I have an old Yamaha av paired to a new Optoma uhd38x projector and a version 1 apple 4k tv. The projector claims 4k but I’m getting 1920x idk. I think it’s 1080p. It is extremely clear but not 4k as advertised. I’m thinking the av doesn’t support it. Same w the Apple TV … no option for 4k resolution settings. Thoughts ideas advice is welcomed. Thnx

Before spending $1-2k on a new receiver, plug the AppleTV into the projector directly and confirm that it is passing 4k. Your problem may end up being a $35 cable. If the AppleTV doesn't dispaly 4k, then try the settings in this video before ordering a new cable: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0i52I79NaU

Thnx will do

I really only need a 5.1 setup but I’m wanting around 100-125 watt per channel w 4k hdmi.

Pick any 4k receiver if that's all you want to drive through it. 125w will give you a max gain of 12dB. So you'll be shy the peak power needed to obtain reference levels but it'll be close.

Marantz is just more expensive Denon. They're made in the same factories and are basically identical internally.
