Steve Perry Hints At Comeback To Touring

Steve Perry just confirmed that he has signed with a new label and is dropping hints about hitting the concert stage again. It’s been 30 years since his last solo tour, and his last full-length concert with Journey was back in 1987.

The Journey rocker shared with Rolling Stone about the label:

“I just signed with a new label. I’m very excited about it, and I’ll have an opportunity very soon to work with these very, very musically creative people. I’ll probably announce who I signed with very soon. That’s about as much as I can say, but I’m excited about that, and I am working on stuff.”

He then touched on how much he missed working on new music and singing:

“It’s something that I’m absolutely missing terribly. I can’t even tell you how much, but there’s been a big soulful reclaiming of this original feeling that I had about singing that I needed to get back to. I didn’t want to go out and just turn the wheel or turn the crank.”

Perry’s Recent Projects

In 2018, Steve Perry came back strong with ‘Traces,’ his first album in 25 years. The album was praised for its themes of love, inspiration, and starting again.

In 2020, Perry released ‘Traces (Alternative Versions & Sketches)’ through Fantasy Records. This album featured stripped-down versions of some of his favorite tracks from the original album. The album was Perry’s return to solo music after more than two decades. Perry credited his late girlfriend, psychologist Kellie Nash, who passed away over 11 years ago, for inspiring him to keep singing and not give up on music.

In addition, Trev Lukather and Nic Collins’ band The Effect released their version of Journey’s 1986 song ‘It Could Have Been You’ earlier this month with Perry on vocals. You can hear the song below.
