The new trailer for You’re Cordially Invited gives a look at a feud over double-booked weddings. The upcoming movie stars Reese Witherspoon and Will Ferrell, and will be a comedy about a woman planning her sister’s wedding only to discover that she and another person are double-booked for their destination wedding. The two families decide to share the venue, only for chaos and hilarity to ensue. In addition to Witherspoon and Ferrell, You’re Cordially Invited features a leading cast including Geraldine Viswanathan, Meredith Hagner, Wesley Mann, Jimmy Tatro, Celia Weston, and Leanne Morgan.

Now, Amazon MGM has released the trailer for You’re Cordially Invited.

The trailer begins with Witherspoon and Ferrell kindly walking into a fancy hotel. When Witherspoon wants to check in for her sister’s wedding, the huge catch is revealed — Ferrell’s daughter’s wedding is also this weekend, and the hotel has double booked the weddings. Both parties vehemently want their weddings to succeed, leading to friction between the characters, and the trailer quickly devolves into chaos, including a wedding party falling into a lake and Ferrell wrestling with a crocodile.

You're Cordially Invited will release on Prime Video on January 30, 2025.

In this short trailer for You’re Cordially Invited, the comedic dynamic between Ferrell and Witherspoon is already on display. Both actors are masters of comedy, with Witherspoon specifically working heavily in rom-coms. This time, she shifts away from the romantic lead role, instead acting as a bridezilla-by-proxy standing up for her sister’s big day. The trailer alone makes this out to be a comedic dynamic between her and Ferrell, making for an exciting upcoming comedy.

The most notable of these actors is Viswanathan, who is known for her recent work in Ethan Coen’s Drive-Away Dolls. Viswanathan is a notable rising star, for after You’re Cordially Invited, she will go on to star in Marvel’s Thunderbolts*. In addition to these roles, she has also had parts in the TV series Miracle Workers as well as the films Blockers, The Beanie Bubble, and Cat Person.

You’re Cordially Invited is also directed by Nicholas Stoller, who most recently helmed the raunchy rom-com Bros, showing his strength in the genre. The director is most known for his breakout film Forgetting Sarah Marshall, which he directed back in 2008. He has also directed Get Him to the Greek and Neighbors. Between the veteran talents and newer stars, You’re Cordially Invited is well set-up to be a great upcoming comedy.
