Spoilers! In the third season, guest star Paul Rudd was the latest… murder in the building; Jane Lynch’s character was shot in the chest through a window, and well, all mayhem broke loose. Created by Steve Martin and John Hoffman and starring the exceptional trio of Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez, season four is essentially a lot of clean-up after the mess of last season, with everyone looking for answers. And maybe a little bit of payback or payment as the trailer teases.

Along with series regular Michael Cyril Creighton, season 4’s list of guest stars is stacked and includes Meryl Streep, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Molly Shannon, Jane Lynch, Eva Longoria, Eugene Levy, Kumail Nanjiani, Zach Galifianakis, Richard Kin, Desmin Borges, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Jin Ha, Catherine Cohen, and more.

Here’s the official synopsis:

In Season 4 of “Only Murders in the Building,” our amateur podcasting trio wrestles with the shocking events at the end of Season 3 surrounding Charles’ stunt double & friend Sazz Pataki (Jane Lynch). Questioning whether she or Charles was the intended victim, their investigation leads them all the way to Los Angeles, where a Hollywood studio is readying a film about the Only Murders podcast. As Charles, Oliver & Mabel race back to New York, they embark on an even more epic journey — traversing their building’s courtyard to delve into the twisted lives of the Arconia’s West Tower residents.

Consequences seem to be the big theme to be explored this season.

“I think the idea of what you create is a thing you put out to the world, and sometimes you can’t be prepared for the repercussions of what potentially the world does with your thing, and how they feel about it,” showrunner/creator Jonathan Hoffman told THR last fall teasing what’s to come. “That’s a challenging line to walk, and sometimes you have to face it in that way. So, the podcast and everything else that’s happened, and what it all means, and what it could have been meaning all along. That’s a really interesting world to look at for these three who stepped in that way.”

“Only Murders In The Building” will return for a fourth season on August 27 on Hulu. Watch the first teaser trailer below.
