This year marks the third edition of the MittelgebirgeClassique, a road event over 40 mountain passes in the middle mountains (Mittelgebirge) ranges of the Palatinate Forest, Black Forest and Vosges. With over 22,000m of climbing in 1,060km of riding, this is not for the faint of heart, while it may lack any vertiginous mountaintops, there's hardly a kilometre of flat!

Bike: I chose my Canyon Inflite with Shimano Ultegra 11-speed and rotor crank. The bike is heavier on the hills than my Endurace, but hopefully more comfortable in the long run. Plus it's easier to repair without all the electronic stuff.
