What’s Working and What Isn’t? | Sunday, May 12, 2024 - Tuesday, May 14, 2024
Discuss what you are playing, what you’re having success with(or failures with), and any new/cool ideas you’ve been experimenting with, etc. The point is to share what you’ve been playing, and how it’s going, good or bad - there are no other rules or requirements.
Some ideas on what to post/share:
-
What you’ve been playing and its successes (or struggles). Stats are not required. There is no minimum rank required, though sharing what rank you’ve been playing at is preferred.
-
Deck adjustments you made or are planning to make in reaction to the meta or as new innovation. E.g. “I saw 30% of deck X, so I made Y changes to help deal with deck X.” (change)
-
Showing off a deck you achieved legend with this season and wanting to share it without having to write a guide

Played handbuff paladin from bottom of d5 to 8k legend going roughly 19-3. Deck abuses the slightly slower decks and can outheal most aggro.
Have been trying to make post-nerf Snek Warlock work at around 3k Legend EU, and have cut some of the extra removal (mortal + zili) for extra bounces and fracking to try and find Mo'Arg faster and complete the combo quicker. Have had about a 50/50 WR overall across around 20 games.
The deck has enough removal with table flip and defile without running loads extra. I like keychain in this deck as you find a lot of extra bounces and occasionally a kobold miner to help you get over the line. Against warrior you just want to put as much pressure on as possible while going towards the Snek, but you still lose most of the time to Brann into either Rat or Boomboss.
Had a really enjoyable game against Rainbow DK which went to fatigue which felt like proper old-school hearthstone, the deck is really fun and tricky to pilot.
Any thoughts on what to swap reverberations out for? It doesn't ever seem to get enough value apart from forcing deathrattles from Mo'Arg.

Trying out Combo Reno Priest rn in low legend, which is a whole lot of fun. I referenced Chump and Dane's decklists and kind of combined the two. The combo win con is to do the infinite mana Reno Heropower combo or the Hedanis overheal combo. Injured Hauler board clears are also very important so I put in as much heal as possible.
The card choices seem very flexible. Cards that could be good but didn't find the room for are Idol's Adoration, Love Everlasting with some other spells and Yogg-Saron Unleashed. The cards I added were False Disciple (to find old Raza), Gnomelia, and ETC with Hauler and Rat in it.

Anyone else literally want to uninstall after facing Reno Warrior? I haven't yet, but it definitely makes me wonder why I'm still playing this game.
Warrior plays AOE
Warrior plays AOE
Warrior plays AOE
Warrior plays AOE
--> rebuild board --> Reno, poof your board is gone!--> rebuild board --> threatening lethal still somehow --> Warrior uses Zilliax and heals to full --> clear it --> painstakingly rebuild my board --> threatening lethal again --> warrior plays Dr Boom, wipes my board, heals to full, and has a gigantic board now --> ok cool bro... guess I'll go play a different game today instead because this just ain't it dawg
=
One time I managed to actually grind them out for resources and then they just dropped boomboss when we both had like <8 cards left in deck and I was like fuck this bro :-(
What's funny to me is how they nerfed wheel and other top tier decks incredibly fast , but warrior gets to be at the top for literally half a year lol
Duos has been a lifesaver for me. I've racked up about 60-80 hours since release because the Standard meta has been so bad.
You can't even go to casual mode and escape it. I'd say 35-40% of my matchups in there are Reno Warrior.
Yea lol. I'm playing excavate rogue this month and I just won after he Reno:
-corpse farm into the 8/8 dh demon into step into leeroy...
Ultra scammed to win....
Had a win streak from D4 to legend today using the insanity warlock deck, switched out one of the furnace fuel and the Skitch artist to one sludge on wheels and Genomelia safe pilot. Feels better when matched up with hunter and paladin, even mirror matchups. The only match ups I felt difficult was flood paladin, or a zarimi priest with a really good starting hand.
built this deck but having a hard time understanding the working principle behind it. what's the winning condition and some tips on it maybe?
https://www.reddit.com/r/CompetitiveHS/s/hKIciVQaKk Here’s a really nice guide written by someone else, but yeah, it’s important to be aggressive, build up fatigue, and otk.
Against warriors sometime you can hard press them to 20ish health by turn 6 or 7, even with full health and some armor, double insanity fatigue + popgar+ two crescendo+ Trogg can one turn OTK them. For flood paladin I try to mulligan for crescendo, imp, popgar, even use trogg for survival, I think there are some decks that are even running double defiles at the moment. Mirror matchups I find holding on to either a void or a felstring and double insanities to be surprisingly helpful. The opponent will often over fatigue themselves and this gives you an opportunity. I’ve had a lot of mirror matches that ended in draws though.
aggro, fight for tempo with conductor and the imp, thornveil. Clear their big board and heal to full with popgar and crescendo
Mid range out tempo, finish with crescendo
control, copy crescendo with fizzle and do a big turn building fatigue, hit crescendo 2-3 times in a row (can popgar to make them free) for 20-30 dmg. can follow up with sludge for 8 dmg 2 mana after their board has been cleared by crescendo.
Hardest part aside from super fast hunter etc. is if you get a bad draw against control warrior and they are able to bran and boom, you will probably lose your wincon since your deck is almost empty
Aggro Paladin, VS list. Was down at the bottom of legend. Still there, but have moved up about 1500 places and have a 75% winrate.
I might switch. Using handbuff pally for the D4 to legend climb.
I've found hand buff way more comfortable than flood with the warrior prevalence. The warrior always has the perfect card when I'm playing flood. Ability to get big health minions improves the warrior matchup so much. Also in the D4-legend climb, btw.
Yeah I feel you. Actually I usually seem to crush warrior. If you draw well, you’re usually good. Sometimes you run out of gas and there’s nothing you can do. Or your opponent plays the Yogg location and you get screwed. Just variance.
I've had moderate success with this, pushing it into Diamond. Mostly I just wanted to play Skarr, but after some trial and error tweaks I found it pretty fun and competitive. Objective is simple; play an Elemental every single turn, playing Elementals on curve you can control the board and chip away until you can play a 9-12 damage Skarr.
Never play Trusty Companion without also playing an Elemental because this ruins the end game strategy. Also you can play an Elemental same turn as Skarr for 1 extra damage.

As someone who really enjoys elemental shaman , thank you for this list. Any thoughts on cards that could slot in for either one or both of the snowflurries or any advice on playing them? I always feel like i struggle to get full value off them and am wondering if brass elemental would help, or maybe turn the tides.
I'm playing this card in rogue and almost never play the first frost spells. The real deal is the mini I think, this card should be good in this deck.
They give you some late game value as you can find some helpful cards. Usually I'll save the first one if I can, if not I'll play it on 3 to keep the chain going. Second one you can always save for either use in a pinch to keep the elemental chain going, or to find a potentially helpful frost card.
If you really hate the Snowflurries I'd plug in either Brass Elemental (this looks good but I rarely am happy to see it), Iridescent Gyreworm, or Static Waveform

what about fitting a Shuddeblock in for triple Kalimos battlecries? What would you take out?
Shudderblock battlecries can't damage the enemy hero unfortunately so I don't think it's worth it. You CAN hit an elemental from the "past" off of Eroded Sediment that makes your next battlecry trigger twice, this is a massive high roll with Skarr.
Kalimos works with Shudder! I’ve done it multiple times. It’s because the battle cry is “pick an invocation” not “deal damage”
I've been trying a bunch of different DK decks to see if I can get anything working in the current meta. Been bouncing around D2/D3 with a BBU reno control deck at just over 50% WR, with a small handbuff package aimed at dropping a 20ish damage turn with Darkthorn Quilter. It's okay, but not great.

I think OSHA Warrior has legs, and is one safety hazard violation away from reaching tier 2 status. List isn't perfect, but it's different, and is still better than Mage lmao.

+1 for deck name
I’ve been playing Reno Druid cause it’s fun and half decent. Really been struggling on finding the best list and tuning it. I use gloomstone guardian and watcher of sun as my ignis procs. I run two dirty rats (one in my etc) to counter Reno although I’ve seen Les warrior recently. Let me know what y’all would change

I took out prison of yogg and added Dragon Tales (I really hate prison of yogg, just personal preference). But honestly, there's a lot of flexibility and your Reno Druid list is as good as anything else.
I think your tech of 2 renos is good, but as you've said I'm seeing less Reno Warrior and more straight up Aggro right now.
TBH I am finding building more aggressive Druid decks is the best way to fight the current meta, so I play Dragon Druid, but just very aggressively. Not as effecient as the real aggro decks right now, but more enjoyable for me as I just really like Dragon/Reno druid atm.
Thanks, prison feels weak so that may be a good cut. I’ve played hybrid and straight dragon Druid and they may be better but honestly I just want enjoyable games and so far those have been alright for fun. Appreciate the comment
