WILLACY COUNTY, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A woman who allegedly broke into a home, was pronounced dead hours after being found out, authorities say.

At 1:25 a.m. this morning, the Willacy County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a residential burglary taking place at the at the 22000 block of Sunset Blvd. in San Perlita.

The person who called authorities identified the burglar as Jo Marie Solis. They said Solis was wearing a yellow top, jean shorts, and black shoes when she entered her home without her consent.

The caller said when she discovered Solis on her property she ran out of the house and hid behind some bushes at a property next door.

When authorities arrived, they arrested Solis on a charge of burglary of a habitation and transported her to the Willacy County Jail. When she arrived there, jailers requested that medical clearance be conducted due to her history of substance abuse.

A deputy then transported Solis to Valley Baptist Medical Center. When they arrived there, the deputy reported that they noticed Solis was pale and advised medical staff.

Emergency care was administered to Solis, but she was pronounced dead at 3:58 a.m. by medical staff.

Sheriff’s Investigators along with the Texas Rangers were notified, and have begun investigating the death.
