What would you prefer watching on the YT the most?

Discussion

Have been playing over 25 years, planning to start a YT channel. Have seen many other with folks playing different games, with/without commentary, gameplays vs. tips/tricks, etc.

Do people prefer online games over story? Curious to know your opinions 🙌

People watch online games most in our country, especially kids, they like games like pubg, freefire, valorant, minecraft and gta v rp

u/07ANAKLUSMOS avatar

Please don't make content on these games we have enough people already. We don't need more people making brain rot content. Make content on games you really like or are passionate about. If your content is good then people will find you. We need youtubers who play a broader set of games not just the above five.

Gotcha, I am bit anxious but let me give it a shot. I ain't a roaster but I play games really well, thanks a lot for your feedback 🙌

Imo u should try to upload story based games, our fucking society things "gaming" means only online games and they ruin the children.

We should encourage story mode games too

The trick here would be to gather the audience first with the online gaming, and then start some story based games. If the content/commentary/reaction is good, true gamers will stay and the rest get filtered.

Agreed, a lot of people would not watch offline campaign but online is like you don't have to follow the story so it's more fun watching to people. Imo doing gta v online would be a great way to gather people cuz most of the Indians know gta at least if not something else or you could try mobas(do commentary like mlbb player shinmen takezo or tips and tricks like betosky etc?)

Bro don't play those games, start something new and focus now on your commentary and story telling. And also start with videos and not streams.

I personally play and watch only story based gaming. My favourite form of YouTube videos are video essays on different games or gaming related topics

I like video essay type content a lot of information with personal experience of tge game and humour is a perfect mixture something like lextorius, nakey jakey and jack sather make. This will surely not grow in india because indian market is mostly focused in mobile and multiplayer games but this is the type of content i personally like.

Ah! Video Essays! I wish more people were into this stuff.

I personally hate mobile gaming and not planning to stream mobile games. But in market like India, I feel affordability plays a major role and since most of them have smartphones, those games are popular amongst young generation.

People like chaos. Did you see how Speed got famous. Other youtubers like Purplecliffe also are getting famous. So, do stupid things and if you are lucky, it will blow up. Only thing is - Do it consistently.

Thank you for the suggestion, I personally don't like it, cuz I am lil old to enjoy that kinda humor 🤣

I get it. I think it’s cringe as well. But as per stats, that’s what is working for youtubers.

I'm a game designer (by education, trying to find a job), so most of my feed is filled with game design, anime, movies, songs and Asmongold vods (I use Asmongold for current affairs lmao), newslaundry(the only independent news media in the country) and podcasts(trash taste, steak and eggs, etc).

Optimum Tech!

Different games on a channel isn't a problem unless they have a story or progression mechanic. For example there's no problem with fighting games and switching in between different ones because most of the content would be online matches. But for games like The last of us, tomb Raider, Witcher, etc with a story, you can't just switch games as you like. And kids who like pubg will only watch you for pubg and so on. The hardest part would be not boring yourself out.

Jayvee - helps me come across games that I would otherwise won't buy and gameranx for some entertaining gaming content

Food videos

Absolutely random stuff. Related to news, my hobbies, food, commentary, sports montages, cats, dogs, memes, surprisingly not a lot of gaming content.

Video game commentary is really hard to do nowdays. The golden age is gone. Market is too saturated with content. I would suggest doing streaming instead. That's one place where that kind of thing is still alive.

Depends. If you are planning on doing it for fun then do some story games. I still prefer it when people don’t use face cams. It makes the content more engaging and makes you focus on the youtuber’s voice, jokes, and what they are experiencing in game. If you are trying to make a career with this, especially with live-streaming then the way to go according to me would be the usual stuff like Valorant, Minecraft, PUBG, etc. But I would genuinely love, appreciate, and support people who bring in something different in the community. I would take Samay Raina for example. That man single handedly brought a huge, young, and enthusiastic audience to chess! Something that was considered so boring by people. So my suggestion would be to try something new. Play something that you would personally love playing, create something that you would personally want to watch. Bring your own flavor to it, otherwise you would be just another streamer/youtuber.

Indie games, I feel like there is some untapped potential there. You could also play souls game to add some dramatic flair to your content!

I want to say PC games but the young Indian audience (the age group that actually has time to spare) wants either mainstream multiplayer games on PC like valo, fortnite or mobile games.

Games which I want to play but can’t afford to buy it. I watch story cutscenes

I would love to watch DaniDev videos

IF HE POSTED ANY

lil tip - Either be the top 0.1% in competitive games or stream based on your personality. Dont go the generic route " Hello guys today we will play xyz games " . There are already thousands of streamers there for the same.

If its your passion, Play whatever games you want but if you want to make it profession, You need to be smart. All the people suggesting you variety games will never watch a single video of yours.

u/sweetdawn1999 avatar

Reviews bro.... Very few Indian reviewers on YouTube.

u/Slow-Law-5033 avatar

I like to watch game playthroughs where the streamer goes through every inch of lore, notes and does 100% exploration because I don't have the patience to when I am playing. One of the examples being a channel named macopolops or something. Also video essays if done right are also good. But sadly you ain't gonna get a lot of views from that

u/Icy_Course9045 avatar

Mostly Pakistani and Indians like random story games(not online games like pubg gta free fire). Thats why Beast boy shub, techno gamerz are famous in both countries because they mostly play story games. Btw people like horror games more like Until dawn Resident evil, Little nightmare, etc.

I personally like story games btw.

Try going for 100% completion as there are times when you don't know what to do in a game and consider looking at a guide. These videos give long term views and regular visits to your channel. I'm on youtube as well.

I might be the minority here, but I absolutely despise the gameplay kind of videos (I fucking hate mobile games), maybe if there is something funny dialogues like sovietwomble, old fitz, swaggersouls, Lichtenstein videos, but it really depends of the characters and their dynamics.

Now I'd absolutely love to see an Indian YouTuber doing analysis kind of videos on different games and not just shit like gta, PUBG and mobile game stuff. Maybe some esports stuff too like analysis and breakdowns (personally I care about cs and a little bit about Pokemon). Maybe some memey jokey analysis on anime/manga too and again not just catering to the battle shonen majority. But I think this focus will not work for the audience in our country.

Hey, sounds great! As a media and advertising major let me tell you that it would be great if you stayed away from the popular games like PUBG, GTA, Valorant/CS etc and rather make videos for a game that you personally are passionate about and know a lot about. Additionally, you can also play games that have an active but close knit community in the country. Doing that would allow you to build your own community that shares your passion for gaming as well as the game. Less toxicity and you get to build your niche at your own pace and growth.

Franchise Retrospective/History for RPGs

A good example is:

Thorgi's Fighting Games Retrospective. His videos take a long time to wait but they are all absolutely worth it

Do story mode games with some calm commentary (in English if possible)

I been uploading on my YT channel since 2019 and tbh I never kinda did it for a Fam or anything I just wanted a Place to keep my gaming memories like I have played these in the past kind

gaming related stuff. it's just persona, pokemon and dark souls.

GTA RP like the one Bay Area Buggs does.
