Lexington: A Lake Huron Summer Getaway

Along the shores of Lake Huron, on the sunrise side of Michigan, lies the charming beach village of Lexington! This coastal retreat in the Thumbcoast region offers the perfect blend of relaxation, delicious cuisine, and entertainment. Situated northeast of Detroit, 80 miles, and east of Lansing, 135 miles, it’s perfect for a quick escape, so pack a bag! Here are my recommendations for a two-day getaway customized for adult travelers seeking beach experiences.

Where to Stay

Lexington offers various accommodations, whether you prefer staying in the village center, at the beach, or somewhere more secluded. You can choose from a historical hotel, luxurious lofts, cozy B&Bs, or a beachfront campground. Six options are available within walking distance and nine more within seven miles. You’ll find the perfect spot to recharge and relax after a day of exploring.

What to See

Day 1: Swimming & Entertainment. Start your trip on Michigan’s Thumbcoast by unwinding on the sandy shores of Lake Huron and taking a refreshing dip in the crystal-clear water. After dinner, head to the iconic Lexington Village Theatre with cabaret-style seating and state-of-the-art sound for a concert or comedy show.

Day 2: Golfing & Shopping. Challenge yourself with a round of golf at Lakeview Hills, featuring a 36-hole course designed to see the spectacular views of Lake Huron from several greens. Later, indulge in shopping at the beachy-feel boutiques in the village for souvenirs to remember your trip.

TRAVEL TIP Walk the break wall early to see the picturesque sunrise over Lake Huron.

Savor the Flavors

With so many delicious restaurants to choose from, selecting where to eat can be challenging. My advice is to come hungry, walk everywhere to make room, and try as many as time will allow.

TRAVEL TIP Meander a vineyard at 3 North Vines, just 3 miles from the village in Croswell.
