Hades 2: Icons explained

Different icons represent different locations in Hades 2, and players can usually choose which path and which location to take. In this guide, we will explain the meaning of those icons and which ones are the most useful.

Given that Hades 2 is a rogue-like game, which means, through your playing, you will be forced to take different paths with one single goal—to reach the location's boss and leave that area behind you.

On this journey, you will face different locations and, usually, different choices on which path to take to reach ultimate destination. Each of those locations is marked with a different symbol, and in order to be able to master the game properly, you'll need to learn those symbols. This knowledge can be crucial on your journey to victory.

If you want to learn the meanings of those icons, we've prepared a guide that will explain their meanings, as well as which paths to take and which ones to avoid to get the best of each encounter.

The meaning of icons in Hades 2

On the beginning of each run, one of the Olympus gods will offer you their service in the form of certain buffs for your weapon or your character. Each god is represented by a different symbol, and we will not delve too long into those symbols; if you know Greek mythology, you'll probably recognise each of them. However, many locations are also marked with these symbols, which means a reward for finishing such locations will be a buff from an Olympus god.

There are, however, several icons you should pay attention to that are not god-related, and those are very important to you. Two icons you will run into the most are the green and grey cloud-like icons. The first represents Psyche, the material used to raise Grasp, to activate more Arcana cards, while the second represents Ashes, the material used to unlock more Arcana cards.

The next icon that is commonly encountered is the one that looks like a pile of purple bones. These bones are used for trading with brokers, and the more of those you own, the more materials you can get.

The blue star icon represents the magic upgrades, while the icon with a blue heart with the red cross inside it represents health upgrades. The icon with an hourglass-like symbol in it represents the area where you can find gold which you can later exchange for upgrades and buffs.

A vial icon with a purple seal represents the area where you can find nectar, and a bag icon with a skull represents the location where Charon is located. This area is not hostile and it is usually located just before bosses. Here, you can exchange your gold for upgrades and buffs.

A pomegranate icon is set in areas where you can find the upgrades for current buffs, and we strongly advise that you take advantage of this area whenever opportunity arises.

And last but not least, an icon that resembles two hands. This icon is set on location where Arachne is hiding. Arachne is a little spider that gives Melinoë armours. Regardless of the other area, you should always take this one because armour's value is immeasurable and will definitely save your skin on a couple of occasions.
