The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live is the sixth spinoff of AMC's long-running The Walking Dead, based on the comics created by Robert Kirkman. It is the third direct spinoff, following Dead City and Daryl Dixon, which all feature continued stories of characters originally introduced in the main series. All three series were highly anticipated after the conclusion of the main series in November 2022. In the first quarter report for 2024 for AMC Networks, The Ones Who Live earned high marks.

According to the press release by AMC Networks, The Ones Who Live now ranks as AMC's best-performing series since the final season of the flagship series. The spinoff series has also earned the NO. 1 cable drama in the current broadcast season and is the No. 1 season of all time for AMC+ viewership and acquisition.

The Ones Who Live is the continued love story of Rick and Michonne, a couple who had been parted for many years. The series saw the return of Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira in a reprisal of their roles as Rick and Michonne. The series premiered in February 2024 and ran for six episodes in what has possibly been a limited series.

The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live

The Ones Who Live was obviously a great choice for the network and fans have been saddened by the prospect that this series may only have one season. The season featured the long-awaited reunion between Rick and Michonne, who have been parted since Rick appeared to have died in season 9 of The Walking Dead.

The series also featured the return of Pollyanna McIntosh as Jadis, now a high-ranking member of the Civic Republic Military (CRM), and a cameo appearance by Seth Gilliam as Father Gabriel Stokes. Another highly anticipated moment of the series was the reunion of Rick and Michonne with Judith (Cailey Fleming) and RJ (Antony Azor), which was the first time Rick met his son.

The future of Rick, Michonne and their family is unclear and fans long for more of their story to unfold in a new series or continuation of The Ones Who Live. AMC has yet to announce anything so time will tell what the future holds.

The Walking Dead spinoffs
