album is a sketchbook of New York City that viewers can experience in VR, we witness it all in the form of a city panorama that surrounds us. There’s no single person to be pointed out as the protagonist, the experience portrays a collective narrative.

IMPETUS

For the first 18 years of my life, I lived in my hometown. If my home is the (0,0) on the coordinate axis, then my kindergarten, primary school, middle school, and high school are all on the x-axis, because they are all on the same avenue, and the furthest one is only a 15-minute bike ride from my home. I have been to many different cities, but the paths between home and school was my main life trajectory before I went to university.

Seven years ago, I started living in different cities away from my hometown. Coming to New York City was a crucial step for me as a designer. I became deeply intrigued with New York life, how people live in the city, the relationships they have with each other, as well as the connections they have with city space.

Buildings, traffic, garbage, and pigeons form the backdrop for the millions of stories that play out every day, and the city’s streets are the meeting points for the spatial stories of people coming and going.

My life experience in New York City has made me think about how I have felt, seen, and participated in the city and how I have become a part of its narratives.
