Eccentric and razor-sharp drama series scores an 8.6 on IMDb and is fortunately available to stream on Disney+

All three seasons of ‘Pose’ received positive responses and were nominated for several awards.

If there’s one series you must see, it’s that Pose. This drama series was created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Steven Canals and ran for three seasons from 2018 to 2021. Pose is one of the highest rated series and has made a lot of history.

Pose has a large cast that includes Evan Peters, Kate Mara, James Van Der Beek, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, Dominique Jackson, Billy Porter, Indya Moore, Ryan Jamaal Swain, Charlayne Woodard, Hailie Sahar, Angelica Ross, Angel Bismark Curiel, Dyllón Burnside, Sandra Bernhard, and Jason A. Rodriguez. The series features the largest cast of transgender actors in regular roles, as well as the largest recurring cast of LGBTQ actors ever for a series.

Story

Pose is about the ballroom culture of New York City, an LGBTQ subculture in the African American and Latino communities, during the 1980s and 1990s. It follows dancers and models as they compete for trophies and recognition in this underground culture and support each other in a network of chosen families known as Houses.

One of the characters we follow in the series is Blanca Rodriguez-Evangelista (Rodriguez). After receiving life-changing news and losing her first real home, Blanca starts her own “home,” a self-chosen family that provides support to LGBTQ youth rejected by their birth families.

Pose was positively received from its first season and received numerous nominations, including Golden Globe Awards for Best Drama Series and Best Actor in a Drama Series for Porter. In 2019, Porter received the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, becoming the first openly gay Black man to be nominated for and win in a lead role category at the Emmys. The series was also nominated for Outstanding Drama Series at the same ceremony.

Both the second and third and final seasons received critical acclaim and were nominated several times. Rodriguez also became the first transgender star to be nominated for the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Won in total Pose 44 prizes.
