Christine 𓅓 12:08:08 PM
Hey Jerry! Happy Friday to you 🙂
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:08:44 PM
Hi Christine, Happy Friday. I keep running into songs all of a sudden with the word liminal in the title!
Stephen Higgins 12:08:52 PM
Good morning, looking forward to some excellent music on this rainy, chilly Friday!

Hey Jerry, happy Friday everyone! Loving the organ in this Elephant9!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:14:11 PM
Patrick, Stephen, did you ever get to hear Hy Lit on Wibbage?
𓀠 ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ 𓀡 12:14:25 PM
Thanks for alerting me to this new Elephant 9
Christine 𓅓 12:14:34 PM
@Jerry, I think usage of the word "liminal" is definitely on the rise in the past 5 years. One reason this could be happening is that images of "liminal spaces" have been getting popular on social media. People find them eerie or strange, or they have the "uncanny valley" effect.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:14:45 PM
Hi DSM, that's great. We're going out today.
Patrick White 12:15:21 PM
I was more of a WFIL guy Jerry 56 am
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:15:30 PM
Hi Dave, I'm playing a couple tracks of India-related music today that I really like. Three, actually.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:16:53 PM
Christine, you are the greatest. I still don't know what that is but I will find out. You know everything!
Patrick White 12:17:09 PM
Used to listen to Crossfire on WFIL where local teens could call in and rap about their problems with Man !! You might try to implement this in your show Jerry
𓀠 ǝɹnɔsqꓳ ǝɥꓕ ǝʌɐꓷ 𓀡 12:17:34 PM
I’m listening
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:18:25 PM
Good, you may know them. In the rare chance that you don't know them, you will like them.
Christine 𓅓 12:19:51 PM
@Jerry Hahaha no I certainly do not. I just like looking things up. The internet and social media are considered liminal spaces, which means we're in one right now with this chat.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:20:47 PM
There could be a new rap record, Get Liminal With It
Patrick White 12:20:48 PM
McCarter Theater Jazz in June cut their shows from 6 to 3 and the opener is …..OY. Chris Botti !!! What was John Tesh booked?

Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:23:55 PM
Hi Russ, thanks for joining in.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 12:25:13 PM
Yes, Patrick, they are traveling the spaceways while providing liminal information.
Stephen Higgins 12:25:32 PM
Yea, I listened to Wibbage and WFIL growing up, knew all the DJ's. Hy Lit had a great radio voice...hey I'll be 65 in June, so I go back a ways! But, then I got cool and moved on to MMR and IOQ. (Until "Harvey in the Morning!) Ed Shachie, Michael Tearson, etc. Great time for radio!
Russell Woessner 12:28:28 PM

@ Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) Arushi Jain's "Still Dreaming," from what seems to be the aptly named album Delight ... just exquisite! It's for musical revelations like this that I keep tuning into your show and WPRB-FM overall. Thank you.

Hey Gordski Streets of San Francisco theme song by the underrated Jazz Musician Patrick Williams doesn’t get enough recognition.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 1:43:40 PM
Yeah, Patrick. He died about 6 years ago and his name has kind of evaporated. He was very much respected by certain jazz listeners.
Russell Woessner 1:46:14 PM

@ Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) I don't know if it's on your playlist right now, but IMHO "Livin' In America" is not only James Brown's greatest recording, it's one of THE greatest American pop music performances of all time.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:09:03 PM
Thanks, Richard! Now there is an endorsement. I'm not playing it today, but in the next two weeks I am doing a part II of James Brown and it IS going to be included then.
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:09:23 PM
Yes, a great one!
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:10:06 PM
How's that saxophone?
Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:14:02 PM

Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) 2:19:56 PM
James Brown STAYED great!
Richard of Rocky Hill 2:25:25 PM

Richard of Rocky Hill 2:39:20 PM
I love that line in "The Payback" -- "I don't know karate, but I know ka-razor!". [Backup singers: "Yes, we do!"]

I bet! In the Fillmore district!
Patrick White 2:40:39 PM
Just learned on the new summer schedule Jerry will also be hosting a weekly 3 am show in the vein of Art Bell . Discussing UFOS, Aliens, Area 51 and Area 52. Wild and interesting
Patrick White 2:41:26 PM
The Peopkes Temple is now a USPS and I still haven’t come up with an appropriate one liner.
Richard of Rocky Hill 2:42:17 PM
@ Serenade to a Cuckoo w/Jerry Gordon (host) Oh, I just saw your comment on the same line. IMHO it's ka-razor, not ka-ra-zy. We need a James Brown expert to slice up crazy the answer for us ...
