The Secrets of Skinwalker Ranch Explores Utah's UFO Valley

Season 5 is now on The History Channel

The triangle area of the famous Skinwalker Ranch in Utah is ground zero for all the new action in the hit HISTORY series, The Secrets of Skinwalker Ranch.

The show offers unprecedented access to one of the most infamous and secretive hotspots of paranormal and unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP)-related activities on Earth. Skinwalker Ranch owner Brandon Fugal oversees an accredited team of scientists, researchers, and experts who push their experiments beyond anything done on the ranch before. This new Season 5 continues the journey of astrophysicist, aerospace engineer, and optical scientist Dr. Travis Taylor and Fugal, with whom Idaho Today host Mellisa Paul spoke about this chilling show filmed south of us here in Boise.

Fugal sheds some light on the answers about the UAPs and the nature of the universe in this strange Uinta Basin, where the laws of physics and odd things occur with regularity. Fugal is a Utah resident who owns Skinwalker Ranch. As the Chairman of Colliers International in Utah, he is one of the most prominent businessmen and real estate developers in the Intermountain West.

But his fascination with the region's lore and recorded mysteries in the Uinta Basin and his lifelong love for studying our universe and whether we are alone in it are what fuel this gripping series. In 2016, Brandon purchased Skinwalker Ranch from aerospace tycoon Robert Bigelow to investigate and study the strange and unexplainable phenomena reported there for over two centuries.

In the premiere, which Idaho Today had access to screen, Fugal noted, "If last year's results are any indication of what we will see in the future, I think we are in for exciting times."

For Season 5, Fugal has created a team of academics like lead investigator Erik Bard and third-party experts like pilot Brock Wilson and Jim Royston, CEO of OmniTeq, to join Skinwalker Ranch Superintendent Thomas Winterton. These efforts have brought better focus to the overall investigation. The new season opens with the Ranch team discussing plans like exploratory drilling and analyzing new phenomena caught on tape. Dr. Taylor also brings up the impenetrable dome from last season, which has produced materials NASA uses to cover spacecraft in sample drilling.

The series also covers the odd livestock deaths on the land. This episode reveals the strange sudden death of a cow whose post-mortem shows that the field they grazed in also needs to be combed for any out-of-the-ordinary items or energy fields. But as diehard fans know, the triangle area exhibits the entire ranch's most active readings. Dr. Taylor compares images of a black hole from the Hubble Telescope to computer images of the strange energy field about the triangle. Fugal is ready to be aggressive this season and promises to fund research to explain the black hole-like void and the blob, the two significant anomalies at the triangle.

Dr. Taylor will also join pilot Brock to gather more evidence at the triangle airspace. In an interview, Dr. Taylor talks about this maneuver to identify the unidentified chatter reserved only for the military in the area of the anomalous zone. "It's got us questioning, who's making those transmissions on the ranch, and why?" As Taylor is in the air, Royston will be on the ground scanning the area with a LIDAR drone. Additionally, the team below will deploy ground-fired rockets to stimulate any action. As the premiere unfolds, the team zeros in on a rogue signal that has them unsure of the origin, and then there is a break in the signal that Dr. Taylor was emitting in the air that has them wondering what was interfering with the signal from his chopper.

Everyone's equipment was being affected by some mysterious phenomenon. The chopper elevation was increased to 700 feet from 200 as the signal reappeared, then broke again. The choppers headed to 3000 feet, and the LIDAR caught data that revealed an anomaly of missing GPS points that no one could explain. At 4000 feet, the choppers showed even more lost signals and gaps in GPS as Dr. Taylor headed back down to the triangle to see what would happen if he could transmit a signal to pilot Cameron Fugal up in the air.

Something was still blocking the signal and seemed to be solely covering the triangle area as Dr. Taylor discovered that an unidentified aerial mass was hovering over the triangle that blocked all signals. Tune in to see what else the exciting new season has in store for Skinwalker fans!
