Crash investigation leads to DUI charge

A Harmony man was charged with driving under the influence following a Butler Township police investigation into a motorcycle crash on Whitestown Road earlier this month.

Zachary Boros, 32, was charged with DUI and other charges, including careless driving, driving without a motorcycle license, driving without registration and driving without insurance in relation to a crash at 5:45 p.m. on May 5 at the Whitestown Road and Acre Avenue intersection, according to a Wednesday, May 15 news release.

Police said Boros was negotiating a left curve in the road when he lost control of the Harley-Davidson he was driving. The crash threw Boros and his passenger, Jennifer Smith, 30, of Monaca, onto a hillside.

Boros suffered a leg injury and was taken by ambulance to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. Smith suffered minor injuries and was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital.

Butler Ambulance Service, Butler Township Volunteer Fire District and VA Butler Fire and Emergency Services all responded to the crash.
