French music industry executive and producer Jean-Philippe Allard — whose passion for jazz led him to sign, work with and produce artists such as Dee Dee Bridgewater, Abbey Lincoln, Ornette Coleman, or John McLaughlin, among others — has passed away on May 18, 2024 at the age of 67, following a brief illness.

Sony Music in talks to acquire Queen’s music catalogue for $1bn — Bloomberg

Sony Music is reportedly in talks to acquire Queen’s recorded and music publishing catalogues, in a transaction estimated to be around $1 billion, according to a report from Bloomberg, citing "people familiar with the matter."

The transaction would also cover merchandising rights and other business opportunities as well as ancillary rights such as the rights to the movie 'Bohemian Rhapsody' that are controlled by the band.
