Angel Reese followed in Caitlin Clark's footsteps with a defeat on her WNBA debut, as her Chicago Sky bow ended in a loss to the Dallas Wings in Texas. The forward scored 12 points and performed well, but she was outshone by Arike Ogunbowale, who top-scored. Teaira McCowan and Natasha Howard both had double-doubles. Elsewhere, the Atlanta Dream opened their account for the season with a win.

Angel Reese's much-ancitipated WNBA debut will have been bittersweet for the first-round draft pick as her Chicago Sky side fell to a 87-79 defeat to the Dallas Wings in Arlington, Texas.
The forward notched 12 points, but was outdone by Arike Ogunbowale, who scored 25, and Teaira McCowan and Natasha Howard, who both scored double-doubles.
The Wings trailed 75-73 with just over three minutes remaining in the final quarter, but they were buoyed by a superb three-pointer from Ogunbowale to eke their noses in front and see them through to victory.
Marina Mabrey notched 19 points and nine rebounds for the Sky, who had all five starters in double figures, but Reese's NWBA career starts with a defeat.
Elsewhere, the Atlanta Dream started their season in the best possible manner, registering a 92-81 win over the Los Angeles Sparks in Long Beach, California.
Rhyne Howard scored 25 points, supplemented by Tina Charles' 21 and 14 rebounds and Haley Jones' 14 tally.
Kia Nurse and Dearica Hamby scored 23 and 20 respectively for the hosts, while Layshia Clarendon had 11 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists for her first career triple-double, but it wasn't enough to stop the Sparks falling to a season-opening defeat.
Meanwhile, Caitlin Clark's debut for the Indiana Fever broke WNBA viewership records with a peak audience of 2.3 million tuning in to watch the 22-year-old make her bow as her new side fell to 92-71 defeat to the Connecticut Sun.
