Suspected freeway shooter dies days after hours-long Interstate 80 standoff in Fairfield

The standoff happened May 3 on I-80 at Green Valley Road in Fairfield.

FAIRFIELD, Calif. — A freeway shooting suspect who forced law enforcement into an hours-long standoff on Interstate 80 is dead, the Solano County District Attorney's Office announced.

The suspect, 40-year-old Mario Territo, of Rohnert Park, was allegedly involved in a freeway shooting in the Santa Rosa area and led police on a chase prior to the standoff on May 3.

The standoff took place on I-80 at Green Valley Road in Fairfield, and it came to an end after he shot himself. He has since died from his injuries.

The person shot at in the freeway shooting didn't have any injuries.
