As a former cohost of NBC’s Today show, a job she held for 15 years, Katie Couric has a lot of experience using her personality, poise, and intonation to captivate audiences. Recently, Couric revived her role as an enthralling presenter when she officiated the wedding of Peter Cincotti, an American singer-songwriter, and his longtime girlfriend, Zeynep Onaran, in Istanbul, Turkey—the bride’s hometown and the place where the couple first met. The former news anchor took to Instagram on May 11, 2024, to reflect on her first-time experience as a wedding officiant.

Before the big day, Couric embraced the culture of the city and the novelty of the trip, according to her caption. “What a fabulous time we had in Zeynep’s hometown!” she exclaimed. “We sailed on the Bosphorous, did some damage at the Grand Bazaar, ate lots of delicious Turkish food and met so many wonderful people!!!”

Couric then discussed presiding over the bride and groom’s ceremony. The former newscaster admitted that she made an honest mistake during the vow exchange, which turned out to be an endearing moment. “I only messed up once when I asked them to repeat after me and when I said, ‘I screwed up’ Peter repeated ‘I screwed up.’ 😂,” she recounted. Along with her admission, Couric’s post unveiled her attire, a black halter-neck gown covered in a colorful floral print, and the ceremony setting, a floral arch overlooking the city.

In addition to her officiant duties, Couric gave her fans and followers an inside look at the reception. “Peter sang the song he wrote for Zeynep (Molner says you set the bar pretty high!!!) there was the battle of the horns with Peter’s trumpet player @tonyglausi and Zeynep dazzled in her sequin dancing dress,” she recapped. Based on the carousel, it appears that the bride revamped her wardrobe at the reception, swapping her high-neck lace wedding dress with detachable lace sleeves for a high-neck silver beaded mini gown with cap sleeves. The music-filled party also featured an extravagant all-white cake featuring a cascade of blooms.

To conclude her post, Couric expressed her gratitude to the couple for trusting her as their officiant. “Congratulations you two crazy kids,” she gushed. “Thanks for including us in the celebration and honoring me with such an important role. We love you! 💍👰‍♀️🤵🏻🫶🩷💐😘.”
