Lorensen was one of the best shooters in the gym for the 16u age division. He’s a lethal scorer if you give him the chance. Someone that utilizes both the mjd-range and three point line to keep the defense honest. His side-step and shot-fame open up a lot of open looks for the sophomore guard. An efficient player on ball reversals because of his ability to rip and attack. He’s always under control and plays with a wide base. Lorensen reached double figures and made his mark on the game offensively. A top 25 prospect in Iowa, he has the tools to rise further and become a household name. It’s not often you see players who shoot like he does and do so with the same consistent release each time. Skilled beyond his years.
Voss is a strong junior prospect out of Ames. He’s a well rounded scorer that fits the makeup of this team. Capable of running off screen, filling to the corner in transition, and working as a spot-up guy. He makes an impact on the game in a number of ways. He’s a strong piece to any offense especially in a motion scheme. In the two games watched he made a difference. Defenses have to be alert to him and it opens gaps for other perimeter players. Ames is a strong program and his skill-set will land him a home at the next level.
Richardson is the do-it-all threat for this team. A multi-positional guy who takes care of a lot around the rim. At 6’5 he’s a strong body that can compete vs. other teams forwards. He can step out and make the pick & pop three. A strong Barkely guy that makes tight window passes and hits shots over his left shoulder. He’s a strong driver on the right side of the floor and plays through contact. Richardson is the guy who stands out most on this team because of his traits as a prospect. A recruitable player with a bright future. Attends Johnston for high school basketball.
Henry Gaffney
Henry Gaffney
Gaffney was a hardworking forward for the 16u squad. He had a solid frame at 6’4 and made a lot of plays around the basket. He plays with a high activity level and lets his motor shine. A double-double threat who cleans up the glass and makes the tough plays for his team. Gaffney is a quickly emerging player out of Southeast Polk. His game leaves potential for wing expansion and he’s a solid overall athlete. One to track and a player who has moments of serious production.
