Speaking as the online nominations for the Telegraph & Argus 'Best Chippy 2024' opened, Nigel Burton, Telegraph & Argus editor said: “In Bradford district, there's no doubt that we love our chippies.

"Whether it's traditional fish & chips, battered sausage, pies or a chip butty, the Bradford district's chippies are always popular.

"That’s why we are delighted to launch the search for the Best Chippy so we can recognise and celebrate the fabulous friers in our communities. So what are you waiting for? Get voting now!”

There's nothing quite like the smell of a fish being cooked to bring a Bradford street to life - and for many it's something you look forward to - with Friday lunchtimes being a particular tradition for in Yorkshire.

While inner city Bradford has a number of fine examples, there are plenty of strong contenders in outlying communities too. Indeed you'd do well to find a Bradford suburb that doesn't have easy access to a chippy.

We’ll be bringing you updates on the chippies nominated in our competition – so keep an eye out and see if your favourite is featured."?
