A jewel inherited from Princess Louise of Prussia, wife of Prince Frederick of Orange-Nassau, then bequeathed to their daughter – also named Louise – who became Queen of Denmark by marrying the future Frederick VIII.

Why such a choice ? The pear pearl tiara, as precious as it is, is not part of the Crown Jewels… Mary of Denmark can therefore wear it abroad, unlike the four adornments exhibited at Rosenberg Castle, the most important of which is set with large diamonds. It is also one of them – the emerald set – that Mary wore in the first official portrait of the royal couple, released last April and intended to be exhibited in institutions and state services. , Danish embassies and consulates.
In Oslo, however, this avalanche of stones and pearls did not detract from the good-natured atmosphere of the banquet. With, as a climax, the touching speech of King Harald, only too happy to make the Danes applaud for their 20th wedding anniversary.
