1. Re: Hammam

I had an excellent turkish bath/massage combo for £30 (paid in GBP cash) last week.

It was in a small basement level spa close to the Verde Hotel (but not the spa belonging to the verde hotel itsellf). Spa was 5 mins walk away from my hotel but they picked me up on a zippy 3 wheel electric scooter!!

iI believe this was a "very special price" as I was asked to pay later when other guests had left the reception area (who were clearly paying more than me)

this is what happened… sit in sauna as long as you can take it. Smiley oriental girl took me to a private marble room, lay me down on warm marble slab, scrubbed me all over with coconut scrub, rinsed off, covered me in foam, scrubbed me with a loofah type mitt, carefully rinsed me off, put me on a lounger with a charcoal face mask, led me to a room where I had a very thorough full body massage including facial, kneading tops of my feet, even my earlobes. Think it was more Thai style as she practically stood on me at one point! Almost 2 hrs of pampering. Rita took great care and attention as she worked, and when she was wiping my face down after the charcoal mask she was looking at me the way a Mum does when they are wiping chocolate off their kid's face. Lots of TLC.

II can't recall the place's exact name and sadly google maps is a bit out of date in this regard. However - if you are interested, Head to the Cupid restaurant (right by Prince Hotel) and ask for Marcello - the maitre D. He speaks excellent english, is very dapper, bald head, white beard, and blue eyes if I remember rightly. He organised the whole experience & negotiated the price for me via a friend that he called.

that price I suspect was partly due to marcello's contacts, and may also have been due to the fact it's still early season so they aren't busy.

But if this is of interest to you, head to Cupid (the food is good anyway) and ask Marcello for his assistance - you might remind him that he organised the turkish bath for a blonde english lady in early may.

For easy identification, Marcello appears in several of the photos on Cupid's TA listing (including some pre-beard!) but he's actually on one of the most recent photos . Scroll to the bottom of the photos, he's on 153 of 157 from Jul 2022 in a blue shirt & blue trousers.

having scrolled through some recent reviews, it would appear "Marcello" might actually be Mehmet. Perhaps he's decided to change his name this season to distinguish from other Mehmets in the resort...!

I am pretty sure the head barman at the hotel wasn't called "Billy" either...!
