Strong victorian era/industrial revolution female protagonist

Historical Fiction

I would love to find more novels that include topics such as female scientists, social progress, Industrial Revolution and its consequences, classes, religious/traditional beliefs x scientific rationalism, the influences of early feminism and the obstacles people had to face in the late 18th and early 19th century. I love experimental fiction and flawed characters with strong desires to live and learn. Romance is fine, doesn’t need to end well.

Loved: The Essex Serpent - Sarah Perry The French Lieutenant’s Woman - John Fowles North and South - Elizabeth Gaskell The Painted Veil - W.S. Maugham Burial Rites - Hannah Kent Crimson Petal and the White -Michel Faber

So far on my TBR Possession - A.S.Byatt Remarkable Creatures - Tracy Chevalier
