In November 2022, the Pro Volleyball Federation was introduced as the latest addition to the professional women's volleyball scene, with a primary aim of providing players with access to top-tier volleyball opportunities while ensuring they receive a sustainable income. The league's founders include Trent Dilfer, a Super Bowl winning quarterback, as well as volleyball icons Cecile Reynaud and Laurie Corbelli.

Camila Gomez, a former standout volleyball player at Miami Dade College, is currently the sole active player in the PVF who got her career started at the Junior College level. Gomez served as the Libero for the 2016 and 2017 seasons, during which Miami Dade claimed consecutive NJCAA D1 Volleyball Championship titles. Following her tenure at Miami Dade, Gomez joined the Texas A&M Aggies, where she continued to showcase her prowess on the court. She would start and play in all 31 games as an Aggie, amassing an impressive 470 digs and an outstanding 3.92 digs per set. Her spectacular 2019 season placed her 2nd all time in Texas A&M history during the 25-point rally scoring era (2008-Present).

Gomez, now a member of the Grand Rapids Rise, felt that Miami Dade prepared her for her career as a professional stating, "I feel I had a great and very important time at Miami Dade, where I got to play and live with friends and teammates from all around the world. Having world class athletes around me helped me to develop a different type of knowledge of the game of volleyball and for sure helped me to adapt to any situation quickly."

After finding out she is the sole JUCO player in the PVF she said,"I feel so humbled and honored to have the opportunity to represent and show the world what a JUCO product is."

Camila Gomez and the Rise team are gearing up for their semifinal clash against the Atlanta Vibe as they head to Omaha, poised to vie for a $1 million bonus and the coveted title of the inaugural Pro Volleyball Federation Champions.
