Strong magnetic solar storms have prompted the possibility of seeing the Aurora Borealis in our area, but there is no guarantee.

Dr. Darren Williams, professor of astronomy and astrophysics at Penn State Behrend, told our Tom Atkins that a dark area, clear sky and looking to the north around midnight would be the best way to try and view the event.

If we get a show, it should be seen in the full sky.

The reason they call them the Northern Lights is the highest probabilities of viewing are even farther north than Erie.
