Poking the hornets nest

Discussion

Let me start by saying I am really enjoying this game. The combat is fun, the characters design is fun, the story is interesting-ish altho I haven’t finished it yet. Been completing all side quests and trying to collect all outfits before I finish as I won’t be playing it again. That being said. So far I feel like stellar blade is on par with forspoken as far as sustenance goes. Everyone was comparing it to nier and bayonetta and even sekiro and other fromsoft games before it fully released and it just doesn’t meet that standard atleast for me personally. Am I just stupid or did I let the hype sour my fun a little bit.

I think a lot of people had an idea in their head of what this game would be. I didn’t follow a lot of the prerelease hype and just played the demo when it launched and the combat sold me.

Honestly when I reached the hub area of Xion I was a bit surprised. Based on the demo I thought this was gonna just be a series of interconnected maps like Sekiro.

But some people expected straight character action, some expected a Soulslike and it takes inspiration from but isn’t exactly any of those things.

I expected to like it but not love it as much as I ended up loving it. I am currently on my 4th playthrough and got my platinum not long ago when I finished the 3rd.

I think it’s a better game than Nier Automata. I haven’t played the others. This being Shift Ups first console game is mind blowing

Comparing SB to Forspoken?? That's blasphemy, friend!!!

Joking (kind of).

I've played Sekiro, played all 3 Bayonetta games, and got endings A through E in Nier Automata and I'm having just as much fun playing SB as any of those games. I think there are some things SB does better and some things it does worse, but all and all I just think it's super fun and I couldn't wait to start NG+ after finishing it the first time. Not everyone is going to like the same stuff so maybe it's just not for you as much as those other games.

I will say, though, that SB is miles ahead of Forspoken :)
