After seven years, Katy Perry is set to leave her role as a judge on American Idol, marking a poignant moment in the show's history.

Her fellow judges, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, are expected to feel the departure deeply, given their close bond over the years.

Katy plans to celebrate her tenure on the show with a small party featuring drinks with Luke after the finale.

"I’m gonna stay present and take it all in and then have a little after-party and Luke and I will finally drink. After seven years, we’ll really drink," she revealed, per Web Wire.

Luke remains uncertain about who will fill Katy's shoes. He is also undecided about his own future on the show.

Reflecting on the camaraderie and dynamic among the judges, Luke shared his thoughts on Katy’s departure.

"The relationship with Katy that we’ve had – me and Lionel and Ryan and the show – has been amazing. I don’t know any info on who may be her potential replacement, but it’s a fun thing to be a part of," he shared.

He hinted at Katy's future endeavors, suggesting, "I think Katy, you know, I think she’s probably launching world tours and stuff where she goes around the world, and so she probably had to make a decision several months out to get in front of her plans. So, yeah, I kind of roll in, we’ll know how the show’s doing and typically everybody’s really fired up at Disney and ABC about it, so we’ll make that decision. Hadn’t made it yet."

As Luke ponders his future with American Idol, he drew a parallel between his music career and his role on the show, emphasizing his commitment to innovation and positive impact.

"I kind of treat American Idol like I do my music career. As long as the show feels like the show is reinventing itself and as long as it looks fresh and fun and I know we’re really doing positive things, it’s gonna always be something that I really consider doing,” he stated.

This philosophy underscores Luke’s dedication to ensuring that his work, whether on stage or on screen, remains relevant and engaging.
