KING WILLIAM — A 53-year-old man was found shot to death in King William County on Thursday, authorities said.

Deputies from the King William County Sheriff’s Office responded to multiple 911 calls from the 2200 block of Mt. Olive Cohoke Road at 8.46 p.m., according to a news release. They found a man who was later identified as Shawn Roane from King William County sitting in a vehicle with a gunshot wound.

King William County Fire and EMS responded and pronounced the man dead.

The sheriff’s office said another man, Donald Dabney, 61, of King William County, remained on the scene “and was cooperative with the investigation.” Dabney was later charged with possession of a firearm by a non-violent felon.

More charges are pending against Dabney, who is being held without bail, the release said. The sheriff’s office did not give any additional details. Online records reveal Roane lived on Mt. Olive Cohoke Road.
