‘That’s One For The Bin’ ‘Chelsea Bound’ ‘Not Worth It’ Liverpool Fans React To Target’s Salary Demands

Liverpool supporters don’t expect the Reds to pursue Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams if rumours about his wage demands are true.

The Spanish international reportedly wants a salary that could top £300,000 a week from any club who is tempted to trigger the release clause in his contract.

Fans on X believe the Reds should cool their interest in Williams and move on to other targets if he doesn’t lower his expectations:

Williams has other suitors

Considering the 21-year-old signed a new €200,000 (£171,000) a week contract with Athletic back in December, he may feel justified in maintaining his current demands, especially with the interest being shown in him.

In addition to Liverpool, the likes of Arsenal, Aston Villa, Tottenham, Chelsea and Barcelona have all been mentioned as potential destinations for Williams.

Liverpool have other transfer priorities

Recruiting a right-footed left winger is unlikely to be at the top of the agenda for the Reds this summer anyway. Williams may be a talented player but they have plenty of similar options in their squad already.

With it now being confirmed that Joel Matip will leave on a free transfer next month, a new centre-back is expected to be the Merseyside club’s primary focus for the upcoming transfer window.
