A Hard Day's Night Film Remaster?
when the super deluxe of a hard day's night comes out do you think the film could get remastered not just the colouring but also the audio

It was only made artistic (through lighting, makeup, set design etc designed for b&w) after the producers said color was too expensive. It was a financial choice first because the producers thought the band were a fad and they wanted to capitalize as quickly as possible and as cheaply as possible
I don't know what the original guy said but they could get away with black and white because of the French New Wave
It just said it was out in 4k already and don’t expect a colorization because that was an artistic choice.
Ah right thanks
how did such a good film come out of that, it sounds like it was planed as a cash grab
Dick Lester had some fantastic and innovative ideas and made the most with what he was given. Constraint can lead to creative solutions
If you understand that, why would you want to retroactively undo some of the constraints?
Regardless of why it was shot in black & white, every decision from that point on was made with that in mind. Production design, costumes, even lighting and framing.
Slapping a filter on there screws with the work of the artists, and it tends to look pretty lousy.
The Criterion 4K re-release of the movie looks and sounds amazing. That’s what you’re looking for
I loathed the day they remastered the aspect ratio!
