Bridgerton season 3 Part 1 release date

The third season of Bridgerton will be released in two parts – Part One will be released on 16 May with four episodes. Part Two with the next four episodes will release on 13 June. Both parts of Bridgerton season 3 will be released on Netflix. You can stream the much-anticipated series on the OTT platform if you have a functional account.

What will the new season be about?

In Bridgerton season 3, the story will focus on the romance of Penelope, aka Lady Whistledown, played by Nicola Coughlan, and Colin Bridgerton, played by Luke Newton. This was confirmed by Coughlan back in May 2022 during the FYSEE panel, according to Variety. Later, Netflix released an official statement that read, “Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) has finally given up on her long-held crush on Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) after hearing his disparaging words about her last season. She has, however, decided it’s time to take a husband, preferably one who will provide her with enough independence to continue her double life as Lady Whistledown, far away from her mother and sisters. But lacking in confidence, Penelope’s attempts on the marriage mart fail spectacularly.”

It also said, “Meanwhile, Colin has returned from his summer travels with a new look and a serious sense of swagger. But he’s disheartened to realise that Penelope, the one person who always appreciated him as he was, is giving him the cold shoulder. Eager to win back her friendship, Colin offers to mentor Penelope in the ways of confidence to help her find a husband this season. But when his lessons start working a little too well, Colin must grapple with whether his feelings for Penelope are truly just friendly.”

This plot twist is different from the order of the original books. Explaining why Penelope and Colin will be the protagonists this season, showrunner Jess Brownell said, “I feel like it’s Colin and Penelope’s time. Because we’ve been watching both of these actors on our screens since season 1, we’ve already invested in them a little bit. We know who they are as people.”

She added, “I feel like, especially in the last season, there are these moments of tension between them where it’s like, Colin walks up to the line of almost realising that Penelope has feelings for him but doesn’t quite get there. Instead of treading water on that dynamic, we wanted to push it into their season.”

The cast of Bridgerton season 3

Apart from Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton, season 2 favourites Simone Ashley and Jonathan Bailey will also return in the third season. The news was confirmed by Ashley herself. While speaking to Deadline, she said, “We’re going to be back! Kate and Anthony are just getting started. I’d like to see Kate just let go a bit more and play more in season 3 and kind of swim in that circle of love together. I think they both deserve it.”

But there will be a lot of new faces too this season. Hannah Dodd will be playing Francesca Bridgerton, Daniel Francis will play Marcus Anderson, Sam Phillips will play Lord Debling, James Phoon will play Harry Dankworth, and Hannah New will play Lady Tilley Arnold.

Bridgerton season 3 Part 1: Episode name and release date

Episode 1: Out of the Shadows, 16 May
Episode 2: How Bright the Moon, 16 May
Episode 3: Forces of Nature, 16 May

Conclusion

Adapted from Julia Quinn’s beloved series of novels, the show follows the lives and loves of the esteemed Bridgerton family and their peers as they navigate the intricacies of the high society. At its core, Bridgerton is a love story, but it is also the tale of power, privilege, and the constraints of societal expectations. What made the show strike a chord with the audience is the dreamy world it created — from resplendent ballrooms to the lush countryside estates, the costumes to the vibrant classical compositions reimagined with a modern twist, every frame in the show is about breathtaking beauty and meticulous attention to detail.
