Jennifer Lawrence Just Cosigned the Deep Millennial Side Part

Jennifer Lawrence can make anything look chic. The actress is well into her fashion era with an aesthetic all her own defined by quiet-luxury brands like Khaite and The Row. But, if you thought her good taste stopped at style, Lawrence is up-to-date with the latest beauty trends, too. Her most recent look co-signs one of spring's most popular yet controversial hair trends: the deep side part.

On May 11, the No Hard Feelings actress arrived at the GLAAD Media Awards red carpet looking stunning in a black Alaïa halterneck gown that she paired with a black Dior bag and a stack of gold jewelry from Anito Ko and Jennifer Meyer. Lawrence's style revival is in part due to her stylist, Jamie Mizrahi. Everything about her outfit was flawless, but what caught our attention most was her equally as-stunning parted wavy blonde hair.

A deep side part has always been in style, but it's recently made a comeback as "cool" again. However, Lawrence illustrates the hairstyle's timelessness—it's classic, a little bit bold, but still pared-back. Her honey-blonde hair was parted on its left side in loose beachy waves that hugged her face, courtesy of hairstylist Renato Campora. The left part was so deep that most of her hair sat on the left side of her shoulder.

Makeup artist Pat McGrath created Lawrence's glam, which featured a bronzey eyeshadow with a smokey cat-eye effect and wispy lashes paired with a peachy-coral blush and matching glossy lips.

Hairstylist Priscilla Valles recently explained to Byrdie that what defines a deep side part is "When you over-direct your hair from one side of your bang to the other." If Lawrence's hair sparks any inspiration, you can play around with how a side part looks best on your face shape and hair type. "A side part can be messy and loose or polished," Valles told Byrdie. "It all depends on the look you are trying to achieve." 

Other celebrities who recently endorsed the hairstyle from the aughties include Megan Thee Stallion, who took inspiration from vintage Hollywood glamour to create her similarly wavy side part.

Hair prep is your best friend to get a deep side part like Lawrence's. Valles recommends starting with a fresh blowout and following up by sectioning the hair and smoothing it out with serum on the ends. A classic wavy side part like the actress's "Use a 2-inch curling iron, curling the ends of the hair in as well so you have that polished curl," Valles says.
