FAIRMONT, W.Va. (WBOY) — A man wanted on multiple outstanding warrants was arrested after police say he led them on a chase in Fairmont.

Sidney Walker

It happened on Tuesday, April 30, according to a criminal complaint. Officers with the Fairmont Police Department saw Sidney Walker, 50, in the driver’s seat of a maroon Chevy Trailblazer that was parked on the 400 block of Quincy Street, the complaint said. The complaint noted two women were passengers in the vehicle.

Knowing that Walker had “several outstanding warrants from multiple jurisdictions,” officers said they attempted to do an investigative stop on the vehicle, asking Walker to turn the SUV off. Walker instead put the vehicle in drive and drove through a driveway and over a grassy hill to get onto the Fairmont Gateway Connector.

During the chase, Walker ignored lights and sirens went at “a high rate of speed,” and overtook a vehicle on the High-Level Bridge nearly causing a “roll over type accident,” according to the complaint.

Officers lost sight of the vehicle, but shortly after, they were called when the vehicle was stopped at the end of the 600 block of Monroe Street, the complaint said. A K-9 track was performed, and the passengers were found but not Walker.

Walker was later arrested and is currently being held in the North Central Regional Jail on charges of fleeing with reckless indifference and obstructing an officer.
