He is survived by : his family Nyla; his children, Donnie Avant (Kristen) and Gwen Stauffer (Tim); his grandchildren, Amber Lawrence (Jonathan), Nick Stauffer (Diana), Brooke Avant Ezell (Troy), Mason Avant, Peyton and Kara Cramer; his great grandchildren, Myla and Logan Lawrence; and his siblings, Bim Avant (Linda), Ann Russell and Martha Jane Wilkins. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life was held on Friday, May 10th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Cammack Family Welch Funeral Home (4619 Judson Rd, Longview, TX 75605).
