Chocolate Chip Bundt Cake

I’m SO excited to share this recipe, a family favorite! This Chocolate Chip Bundt Cake is hands-down one of my favorite cake recipes! It’s so delicious that it doesn’t even need an icing or frosting. Slice it up and enjoy for birthday celebrations, holiday parties or just a tasty treat when you want to do some baking!

This cake kind of reminds me of a chocolate chip cookie but in cake form. DELISH. My two girls love taste-testing recipes with me, telling me what to tweak, etc. I share a lot of salads and more savory foods, but whenever I share a dessert, they are in high heaven. This chocolate chip cake might just be in their top 5 recipes!

If you need a cake to take to a neighbor/friend or make for any type of celebration or potluck, this chocolate chip bundt cake is perfect! It’s a delicious and moist cake that’s truly an “any occasion” cake including just a sweet treat to make if you get the urge for some baking!

It starts off with a butter golden cake mix, and I have zero shame about using a cake mix as a great starter for cakes. They’re delicious! Then you just have a few basic kitchen staples and lots of chocolate chips!

Chocolate Chip Bundt Cake Tips

  • I recommend the Duncan Hines Butter Golden Cake Mix.
  • Use mini semi-sweet chocolate chips, I think the mini size works best. Some still fall to the bottom, but they’re decently spread out!
  • Be sure not to over bake your cake, use a wooden skewer or a knife inserted into the cake to determine doneness. Ovens can vary! I start checking doneness for this cake around 50 minutes.
  • I recommend a 12-cup bundt cake pan for this recipe. You can use a 10-cup pan or even a 9-inch baking pan too.
  • Be sure to spray your bundt cake pan very well. I like the PAM Baking Spray, but you could also use shortening and then a sprinkle of flour too.
  • Allow the cake to cool slightly (15-20 minutes) before carefully flipping out onto a cake plate.
  • I really don’t think this cake needs any topping, but you could always give it a light dusting of powdered sugar if you like!

Chocolate Chip Bundt Cake

Moist and full of chocolate chips, this chocolate chip bundt cake is the perfect cake for any celebration!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 butter golden cake mix
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 8 ounces sour cream
  • 2/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups mini semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350℉. Grease a 12-cup bundt pan.
  • In a large mixing bowl, blend together your cake mix with sugar, sour cream and oil on low for about 1-2 minutes.
  • Add eggs one at a time, beating well between each addition.
  • Continue to beat for 2-3 minutes on medium speed. Add in vanilla extract and stir well. Mix in the chocolate chips.
  • Pour batter into your prepared bundt pan and bake for 50-60 minutes or until a skewer or knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Ovens vary so watch cake carefully.
  • Allow cake to cool for about 15-20 minutes then invert onto a cake plate.
