After becoming a hit on Tik Tok, Brás Cubas reaches first place in sales on American Amazon

The novel and classic of Brazilian literature, Bras Cubas, Machado de Assis, reached first place in sales in Amazon American. The incident happened after the American influencer Courtney Henning Novak give a positive review of the book on TikTok.

To reach the first position in the “Caribbean and Latin America” book category, Bras Cubas surpassed major titles in world literature, such as Love in times of cholera, Gabriel Garcia Marquez.

Bras Cubas became internationally known and reached first place in sales in Amazon, after an American influencer posted on her profile on TikTok your opinion about the book. On her social network profile, Courtney Henning Novak stated that this would be her new favorite book.

The influencer, who has a profile with more than 25 thousand followers, maintains a literary project in which she proposes reading a book from each country in the world. The chosen one within Brazilian literature was Posthumous Memories of Bras Cubas, classic of Machado de Assis, in the English version.

In her video, Courtney states that she wished she had had the opportunity to read the work in high school. Surprised by the plot of the story, Courtney asked why “They didn't tell you it was the best book ever written".

Aires memorial is the last book of Machado de Assis and was published in 1908, the year of the author's death. It is a compilation of short texts, organized as if it were a diary, written between 1888 and 1889.

Aires was a counselor who was always involved in the works of Machado de Assis, usually appearing as a friend of the characters. In the book, he idolizes D. Carmo, a woman who is said to be inspired by Carolina Augusta Xavier de Novais, the writer's wife.
