The powers that be at La Liga giants Barcelona are hopeful of receiving a number of big-money proposals for a star member of the club’s backline this summer.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Ronald Araújo as the player in question.
Stopper Araújo has for his part of course continued to play an integral role at the heart of boss Xavi’s defence across the season to date.
The Uruguayan has long established himself as the Blaugrana’s vocal leader, with his talents highly appreciated by the coaching staff in Catalunya’s capital.
And yet, if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, Araújo could nevertheless soon be on the move.
As per the aforementioned Sport, the Barcelona brass have identified the centre-back spot as one in which they can afford to make sales this summer.
An ‘overbooking’ has been noted in the position, owing to the presence of all of Pau Cubarsí, Andreas Christensen, Íñigo Martínez, Jules Koundé, the up-and-coming Mika Faye, returning Eric García, and that man Araújo.
In need of a big-money sale to balance the books, Deco and co. have therefore identified the latter as the best option.
Araújo has long been drawing interest from Bayern Munich and Manchester United alike, with it in turn asserted that Barca ‘hope that offers for a sale may begin to arrive in the near future’.
The Blaugrana are seeking a fee in the region of €100 million, which would in turn be reinvested in the signing of a new midfielder, and attacker.
