After months of lurking, I’ve ordered it! Need advice :)

question

I’ve been reading posts here and there, and noticed three main issues / recommendations:

  1. The operating system could be slow, better use Chromecast or Apple TV. Question: does using the external media control device then allow the running of integrated Art function?

  2. Mounting could be a hassle - it usually looks a bit skewed, and one needs to push the TV to get into place, even if it might feel that one can break it l. Is this true? Another question: is there a recommended mount type, or does the mount come with the TV itself?

  3. Given that speakers aren’t really strong, sound bar is recommended - are there any recommended ones?

Thanks!

Mounted 55 inch into cement. Used a 8mm drill bit (Europe) but screws are imperial so was off by about .3mm. It was fucking hell. Had to rip them back out and used own anchors and screws.

Also: indeed mine didn’t pop down into bracket (and then get sucked in by magnets). Had to push it down - which was a bit nerve racking. If I new I would have popped the bar and bracket in and out a few times before putting on tv and before mounting (just to loosen it up - other posts also describe this)

This would have been me if I’d attempted to do it myself.

Glad it helped. I complained to Samsung and they said they are aware of problem in Europe and will ‘inform’ head office. How the hell they knowingly do this (cost me an evening - this a two evening job to install).

Highly recommend besides above to watch an install video. Because overall it’s pretty easy to do. Just measure twice drill once ;)

Oh man, you’ve gone through a lot! Thanks for recommending!

Is there an official install video? 🤔

  1. I use a chromecast for watching tv. When I turn the Frame off it goes into art mode.

  2. I have the 43 inch version where the mounting works different, more easy I suppose.

  3. I didnt want a permanent external speaker because of the illusion of a painting. I use a Sonos Roam for when I want good sound.

Good luck with your setup!

Many thanks!

  1. The OS is frustratingly slow / jumpy, but it’s never something I’ve thought would sway me from buying another. That said, I use an Apple TV for all tv viewing, so I really don’t have to navigate the Frame OS.

  2. I’m only dealing with Sheetrock, so my mounting experience was probably on the easier side. I DID pay someone to do it just in case, though. The SnapBack final push was a little daunting, but ultimately was just before my stopping point. If you’re looking for the picture frame look, the slim mount that sits right against the wall comes in the box.

  3. I mentioned I’m using an Apple TV; I use HomePods as my audio source. Connected to the Hub for the Frame in the eARC port, it’s also available as my sound source for our Switch and PS5.

With this setup? When I turn off any of those connected devices, they all turn the frame into art mode.

  1. I have Apple TV set up but I pretty much use the onboard software. It’s annoying but not terminal.

  2. I paid a pro to do it but I was there for the snap back & yes I nearly shit my pants when he did it.

  3. I got a cheap but apparently good Yamaha soundbar to go with it. It actually wasn’t great so I got my old Samsung J series soundbar & hooked it up & it’s way better.
