Gloria Lee OBITUARY

Gloria Lee Courageously lost her three and a half year battle with lung cancer on Sunday, October 12, 2008 in the comfort of her home. As she left this world, she was surrounded by her son, Robert Lee, and her three daughters, Linda Alexander, Cynthia Van Slyke, and Brenda Hicks. Gloria was born at home on March 6, 1935 in Fresno, CA. She was raised in the Willow Glen area of San Jose, CA and was in the first full graduating class of Willow Glen High School, 1953. Gloria was married and widowed twice, moving to Lake Almanor, CA in 1987 with her husband, Wilbur Lee who preceded her in death in 1990. Gloria’s loving partner for the past 12 years, Gene Buthenuth, preceded her in death this year in April. Gloria led a full and joyful life. She enjoyed traveling, golfing, gardening, cooking, and most of all spending happy times with her friends and family. Her cheerful and positive attitude were an inspiration to all who knew her, as was her strength. Her laughter, sense of humor, and smiles in the face of adversity will be missed by all. Gloria is celebrated in life by her daughter, Linda Alexander and her husband, Bob, grandson Aaron; daughter Cynthia Van Slyke and her husband, Marty; son Robert Lee and his wife, Anne Marie, grandsons, Andrew, Will, and Michael; daughter, Brenda Hicks and grandsons, Trevor and Corey; and step-son Chuck Lee. A gathering of friends and family will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 17, 2008 at the Recreation Room of the Pleasant Valley Mobile Home Park, 1675 Manzanita Avenue, Chico, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the Enloe Hospice in care of Newton-Bracewell Chico Funeral Home, 680 Camellia Way, Chico, CA 95926.
