interface question - not seeing the planes

Post by diep »

So see the gear i drew. Suddenly BOOM i see XZ plane (all 3 planes) and i see origin through my object whereas it already is in the right top.
How do i take care it doesn't display the planes inside the part?

Checked everywhere in interface, tried all kind of things. Didn't find it.

Kind Regards,
Vincent

I might be missing something here. The normal way to switch off planes and axes is to highlight 'Origin' in the tree and hit spacebar to toggle its visibility.

If you hit the right pointing arrow by 'Origin', it will show you the six items of which it is made, allowing you to control their visibility on an individual basis.

i remember i clicked in some pulldown menu at 'hide origin', hoping the planes displayed would go away, yet then 'origin' was gone from the Tree View - not from how i see the part in 3D.

Yet i do not see this option in the pull down menu's now: "show origin'. Not finding it...

Can upload the current document which is similar to this. Becasue after my posting: BOOM suddenly a very confusing thing happened.
Text was bad visible and embedded into the 3d View it seemed.

Had to quit freecad, then put it at light version then at classic view to other view and back to classic view, and then i could read it again in a docked multiple document window.

So i touched and retouched all kind of things in FreeCAD trying to find something that worked to remove the planes visible :)

Not for me! FreeCAD runs of course on a development machine that is NOT on the internet!!
To avoid getting hacked to a level that everything crashes nonstop 24 hours a day - i was forced quite some time
ago to put my development machines airgapped from the internet. So transferring files eats considerable time.
I cannot do that by simple usb stick to give an example.

Note this secures hopefully against the simplest form of haxing. Make no mistakes that for N*SA when i talk to someone there i quote: "oh that's just 1 hop extra". The goog's and apples are at a much higher level there getting all data from all computers on the planet and whom they didn't hax they ship a special team for to get it.

When i had contact with windows kernel development team some time ago: "the only thing that gets windows unstable is haxers, otherwise it would run stable without problems nonstop".

This is actually true. It runs pretty stable when airgapped at a network.

So my internet box is linux, as a windows machine would nonstop reboot. Yet i can run windows on airgapped machines.
Transferring files eats loads of time. .

p.s. so my network looks like this:

==> internet ==> firewall (linux machine with network cards and stripped kernel / services) ==> cabled internet network slot ==> this internet machine.

heep heep hooray!! there is option : "show items hidden in tree view'. When i clicked that, it showed origin again and space bar did do the rest!

Much appreciated!

i would betray how the internal network (that's not on the internet) looks like then!
let's say that there is several OS-es involved :)

(yet i keep it relative CHEAP)
